Old Southern Charm

Although the metropolitan craze in the DC area maybe enjoyable at times, sometimes getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and heading down south for a day might be all you need to smell fresh crisp air. From the beautiful vineyards in the mountains, to adorable shops in the down down area, Charlottesville is a place to sit down and capture Virginia's version of southern charm.

Although we started off our trip a little later than we hoped, Carlos and I headed straight to the  center where we found ourselves hungry for some C-ville cuisine. This side of Charlottesville is a perfect small place to have a nice stroll and look at all the little shops and boutique (and maybe indulge in an ice cream cone).

Since the wineries typically close rather early, we were unfortunately unable to stay in the downtown area longer and headed straight to the Pippin Hill Winery, a little over 15 minutes away from the city center. The winery is the newest addition to the plethora of wineries along the Cville terrain but their look and design makes it (in my opinion) one of the trendiest in the Virginia traditional countryside.

The area was perfectly decorated in rustic wooden structures while still having that modern feel with the lighting fixtures. The view was absolutely spectacular, the rosé cold, and the food delectable...what more could one want?

We ordered a cheese plate but the vineyard also offers a variety of things on their menu including lunch entrees and desserts. Although the day was rather humid and hot, my wine-loving heart fluttered with happiness.

Although it was a short trip (aka we woke up super late, oops), it was a nice getaway from the sometimes overwhelming environment of the DC area.

What are your favorite wineries?
¿Cuales son tus viñedos favoritos?
Linking up with Bonnie, Sara, and Christine- thanks ladies!

  3. You were in my neck of the woods! :) I haven't yet visited Pippin, but it's not far from my work. And since I'm planning to visit all 252+ wineries in Virginia by 2022, I'm sure I'll get there eventually!

    1. Hello! Yes you would definitely need to get a car if you're traveling from DC. It's about a 3 hour drive from the downtown DC and unfortunately Virginia isn't the best when it comes to public transportation haha. Let me know if you need any recommendations on where to go/eat/visit in DC! It's a beautiful city with so many things to do and see :)

    1. I heard that too! Apparently it's an up and coming "wine state." Funny that it wasn't like that year back- but I am definitely not complaining! Definitely recommend you go :)

  9. I'm all about day trips and I know what it means waking up late!!! I've visited a couple of wineries in Santorini as I have friends working there...and ended up coming home with 10 bottles of various wines!! I've also visited a couple of champagne places in France in the past and loved the experience!
