Boozy Tinto de Verano

As summer is hitting its ultimate peak, many of us are stuck in the states, hidden behind an office desk (like me), and day-dreaming an escape to somewhere warm- like the Mediterranean. We scroll through our instagram feed during our lunch break and sigh with envy as we see pictures of serene blue coastlines, breathtaking cliffs surrounding Palma de Mallorca, and mouthwatering #instafoodpics of someone's seafood lunch with the caption "fresh catch of the day." Ugh.  But if there ever was a remedy to your summer blues, it'd come in a tall glass of what is famously known as Tinto de Verano.

Unlike it's distant cousin sangria, tinto de verano plays it much simpler and is often the drink of choice among many Spaniards. With two parts red wine and one part lemon soda, this summery drink will (mentally) teleport you to the glistening beaches of Malaga. However, if original doesn't do it's teleporting magic on you,  follow my recipe for a more boozy fun twist:

  1. I love tinto de verano! One of my favorite Spanish beverages right behind vino tinto :) My favorite summer drink is an ice cold IPA or a grapefruit crush.
